Chapter Seven
Kyle
“How cute?” I ask, catching on to Kacy’s excitement.
“Very! Actually, all three are good looking, but one is waaaay too young for you,” she chides while helping me run the pass.
I glance her way. “I’m not that old, you know. We are the same age after all.”
She laughs. “Yeah, but this one is like twenty or twenty-one. You probably couldn’t keep up with him.”
I just roll my eyes at her, knowing she’s correct. Still, I like to think I could catch the eye of a young twenty-something.
“Well, it’s too bad I’m busy.” I grab another plate and call for a member of the wait staff to take it out to table nine.
“The chef will just have to walk around and see how the guests are doing then.” Kacy can be so mischievous. “And don’t wait back here forever; you really need to see this guy. He’s gorgeous and built.”
“Fine,” I surrender. “I’ll make the rounds after a little while.”
“Good, let me go check on the front of the house. Hell, I’m being pulled in a thousand directions tonight. At least business has picked up.”
I give her a quick wink. “At least you’re flexible.”
She glares at me and then huffs before heading out of the kitchen.
Soon after she leaves, the rush in the kitchen slows and I’m able to take a breather. Okay, let me go see the new boyfriend she has lined up for me. I head out to the dining room, stopping at a few tables to check on the patrons to ensure they are having a pleasant dining experience.
Kacy is walking with a tray, heading to a back table. She turns around after dropping off the dishes she carried and silently mouths to me, “So hot.”
I head over to the table, but only see two guys sitting. One is young, exactly as she described with golden locks falling over his forehead and a lean, muscular build. He has a baseball-player body type. I walk over to their table. The guy with his back to me has short-cropped hair and wide shoulders across a muscular back, which seems to stretch the fabric of his shirt at the seams.
Stepping up, I smile at the young guy. “Hi, I’m Kyle, the Executive Chef. I hope your meal is good tonight. Is there anything else we can do for you?”
The young guy beams up at me and I turn to look at his companion. My breath hitches and I think I’m going to pass out for a second. It’s him. Zeus. The guy I watched in splendid glory last week.
He looks at me with a startled expression and looks towards his friend. After a moment, he responds, “Everything is good. Josh, do you need anything?”
Josh shakes his head. “No, everything is delectable. Thanks.”
Zeus seems to be a little unnerved by my presence. I guess my initial thought is correct, because he doesn’t seem to like me at all. He barely meets my eyes when he concurs. “Okay,” I draw out. “Well, if you need anything, just let us know.
