Chapter 6

“Can you stop doing that?” Thomas complained. “I know that you want William here, but he’s working right now.”

Lucian slumped over and stopped tapping his pen on the desk. “I want to see him,” he mumbled, and glanced at his cell phone next to the pile of files. “He has Milo now, so he doesn’t need me anymore.”

“You know that’s not true,” Thomas said as he checked one of the files. “He knows that you’re working, so he doesn’t want to bother you. And pay attention to what we’re doing. You have to get some work done as well.”

He didn’t feel like doing anything. However, unless William called him, he had no reason to check on his mate. “Okay, fine, let’s work,” he said, and sat with his back straight. “What do we have today?”

“This demon wants to open a restaurant in this world, more specifically in Portugal,” Thomas explained, his dark eyes on one of the pages from the file. “He would like to have a meeting with you that is scheduled to take place in half an hour.”

Lucian nodded. “What kind of restaurant?”

“It’s stated here that he likes to make Chinese food, and Portugal has quite a few Chinese restaurants, so I don’t see the harm in that.” Thomas flipped through the pages and then picked another file. “After that there’s another meeting, but this time it’s with a human. She requested to build a kindergarten in Centura where she would like to teach about the human world and Italian. She’s a native from Italy and she’ll bring a translator with her.”

The cases of humans wanting a connection with the demon world was rare. But as the demon prince, he was the one to create the connection between both worlds, besides doing other things within the company. Lucian asked, “How does she know about us?”

“Her husband is a demon. He’s going to be with us in the meeting as well,” Thomas answered, and put the file on the pile for the projects that were accepted for a meeting.

After both meetings and accepting the projects, Lucian sat at his desk with a thud. “I want Will to comfort me. I hate talking to people,” he said, gazing out the window.

“Your job is to talk to people,” Thomas muttered. “If you want, I’ll open the portal—” He was cut off when someone knocked on the door.

Teresa stepped inside. “Mr. Lucian, there is someone here to see you.”

Lucian raised a brow. It wasn’t William, since he couldn’t sense his mate nearby. “Who?” He stood and walked around the desk. Teresa opened the door further and the most unexpected person walked in. Damn it. Not the best timing. “Hello, Father.”

“Hi, Son,” the demon king said with a kind smile. “I heard that you got mated with a human.”

“News travels fast in Centura,” Lucian muttered, and returned his father’s hug. “Is it that important that you had to come here yourself instead of calling?”
