They were sweatily entwined when Josh finally opened his eyes. He nuzzled at Kane’s neck, stroked his damp hair.

Kane held him close with Josh still sheathed inside him. Kane’s heart thundered against his chest, mirroring his own, and he knew his words had changed something between them forever. But then, he’d said them before, hadn’t he? On the cruise. And afterward, when Kane had questioned him, he’d taken them back, said they had been a mistake. A heat of the moment thing. And there he was dropping them again. If once was a mistake, what was twice? Kane would be left in no doubt now. Josh wished he hadn’t done it. Saying the words might push Kane into a decision too soon. Might have him running as soon as Christmas was over. Misery clenched him in its morbid grip.

He glanced up at Kane’s beautiful face cautiously. He lay with eyes closed, lips parted slightly, sweat gleaming on his upper lip. Josh pressed a kiss to the chiseled line of his jaw. Kane stirred. His lashes lifted and he turned his head, gray eyes fixing on Josh.

Josh waited with butterflies rising in his stomach. Waited for Kane to be angry, to castigate him for his words.

But Kane smiled sweetly. He stroked Josh’s face with gentle fingertips. “I should submit to you more often.”

Josh pressed a reverent kiss into the palm of his hand. “I love the sounds you make when I’m inside you,” he whispered.

“Come here.” Kane kissed him deeply, passionately. They rolled onto their sides, mouths never breaking, touching, caressing, until finally, Kane pulled Josh’s head against his chest and held him close.
