Hassan had just finished a glass of brandy when the phone rang again. Cursing, he picked it up. He badly needed some sleep. It was the Englishman.

‘Have you carried out my instructions?’

‘Yes. All three women are on their way to Geneva. How they are going to trace their targets I don’t know.’

‘I personally chose them because they are resourceful.’

‘But it leaves no one to deal with the other members of the Institut who are still alive.’

‘It doesn’t matter. Once those two men are underground we have dealt with the most dangerous ones. And time is running out.’

‘You have been in touch with—’

‘Yes. He agrees with me.’

Once more the Englishman slammed down the phone. Hassan felt relieved. He had been going to ask whether his caller had been in touch with the Head of State. Obviously he had, so Hassan felt covered. And what was a few hundred thousand dollars? The Head of State had billions under his control.
