Chapter Four

“Hey, babe, what’s wrong? You seem off tonight.”

Patrick sounded genuinely concerned. Ashton let out a dejected breath and sank for just an instant into his fellow bartender’s embrace, letting the man pull him back against his muscular chest. He breathed in the scent of warm skin and the spicy body spray Patrick favored. Scandals was a popular nightclub, especially at the weekends, but tonight it seemed remarkably packed. The sweating, half-naked bodies were crammed together, the crowd boisterous, laughing. Usually, Ashton could keep up with the drink orders, an air kiss and wink for the pretty boys, but Patrick was right. He’d messed up on several orders already. He needed to clear his head and get in the game.

“Rough week,” he murmured. Turning his head to look at his co-worker, he caught the hot glance of a twink at the counter. The boy watched, dark eyes intent, while Patrick trailed his fingers over Ashton’s chest and teased his nipples, sending a pleasant shiver through him. During the week, it was white shirt and slacks, but at weekends they both wore bow ties and black leather pants—and not much else.

“Want to take a break?” Patrick murmured in his ear, playing with the buttons on his tight pants. Ashton sighed as Patrick stroked his talented fingers over his dick, knowing Patrick’s mouth on him would be mind-blowing. Patrick was a good friend. He still hadn’t found his special someone, and he and Ashton would sometimes hook up when they needed the comfort. They were both happy with the brief moments of pleasure they shared, knowing nothing would come of it. But Ashton just wasn’t into it tonight.

He twisted in Patrick’s arms and smiled into his blue eyes. “Maybe later?” he said, not wanting to hurt the guy’s feelings after his very nice offer.

Patrick gave him a light kiss. “Sure, babe.”

They both looked up as a buzz of excitement swept the crowd. Ashton’s heart jumped when he spotted Lance in the dressing room doorway, a brilliant smile on his face, before he ducked back inside. Ashton chuckled fondly. His darling did love attention!

Patrick’s laugh tickled his ear. “Now I see why you’re not interested. Still pining for our blond bombshell? Can’t say I blame you. Every man in this place would lick the floor for him.”

Ashton shook his head. “So not the image I want to see,” he said with mock dismay.

Someone lifted an empty glass at the end of the bar, and he went to do his job. He felt the attention of the young man who’d been eyeing him earlier, and after filling several drink orders, went over to him. “Hey.”

Ashton bit his lip on a smile as a blush rose in the pretty face. What a cutie. He glanced at the men standing nearby, wondering who the boy was with. Surely someone this delightful wouldn’t be alone? He looked back into dark, sad eyes, and his heart thumped. Had he been crying?
