"Dude, this may just be a transfer station, but you can tell it's one of their main terminals. Look at the dirt floor, it's so hard-packed from people walking on it that you could almost believe it was cement."

Zeke sniffed at the earthen tunnel floor before chuffing out a sound of agreement with what Boomer had just said.

We'd gone in shifted form under the cover of darkness to the tunnel entrance on the Mexican side of the border. Luckily, people tended to look, if not run, the other way if they saw a pack of wolves roaming around in the middle of nowhere. The guards at the tunnel entrance had been easy enough to take out. One pounce and a clamped jaw to the neck with a quick shake was all it took to sever their spinal cords and get us in.

Levi whined low in his throat. "I realize that we can cover more ground in wolfskin and our eyes and noses work better in this form, but I'd feel a lot better if I had a gun in hand right about now." Baby was strapped to his side, but apparently that wasn’t enough for our trigger-happy sniper.

"Quit your bitching." I jerked sideways to bump Levi in the flank. "Tooth and claw work just as well as a bullet when you don't see them coming. Besides, doesn’t it give your wolf more pleasure when you can personally take out the people who hurt your mate instead of looking through a scope?"

"My brother makes a good point," Zeke commented as he moved past us. "Taking someone out up close and personal is always more satisfactory. And I guarantee you that the guards we’ll be taking out have looked the other way more than once when omegas like Cody were dragged through here."

When we reached the end of that section of tunnel and made sure the coast was clear around the corner, Boomer shifted long enough to pull one of his premade charge packs out of the pocket on his tactical vest and attach it to the side of the tunnel. It never failed to amaze me how much C4 resembled putty and could stick to anything. Once we got to the other end and were far enough away, he'd blow the entire place up with one touch of a button. After he shifted back, we moved on to the next juncture.

"Am I the only one wondering why there aren't more guards down here? So far, we've only encountered the guys at the entrance. I'm wondering if we should maybe be concerned?" I looked around nervously as if a boogeyman would jump out of the shadows.

Noah flicked his tail. "No, that would just be a waste of manpower. They have each end covered. And it's not like there's any other way to get in or out. Pax was right, once we got in from the Mexican side, it's smooth sailing. The only issue is going to be when we emerge on the other end into the belly of the beast.
