“Kobayashi Maru”

Koji Kuramura

Cadet John Harriman’s heart sank as he looked at the main viewscreen and saw those huge Klingon ships, disruptors aimed straight at him. It was just a simulation, but at that moment it seemed unnervingly real. The Academy counted on that, of course; it was in that moment of fear that a cadet’s true mettle revealed itself. Harriman did not hesitate, and he ordered his ship to rescue the stranded freighter.

“Smile!”

Lenny A. Emery

Besides being one of Starfleet’s top physicists, Lieutenant Emery was an old-fashioned romantic at heart. He firmly believed that true art had to be made by hand, as interpreted by the artist’s eye.

So when the U.S.S. Golden Gate was scheduled to spend a full day in close orbit of Epsilon Theta’s tiny moon, Emery decided it was time to break out his oils and canvas, and to don his pressure suit so he could do a proper painting of his home in space.
