Chapter Four

The drive back to his car was done almost in silence, but Ross felt it was the silence of contentment, not an awkward silence. He really hoped Perry wasn’t sorry that they’d fucked. It was absolutely what he’d wanted, and Perry had certainly been the leader in their activities. Ross wanted to say something about the future but didn’t really know what to say. He certainly didn’t want to sound ungracious. He’d had a hell of an amazing orgasm.

He was still trying to figure out how to broach the topic when Perry drove down the long, narrow parking lot at the gay bar and slowed. “It’s the blue Ford, right?”

“Yes. How did you guess? I’m surprised there are any cars left here at all.”

“We’ve been parking our trucks in your family’s garage all week. Your car has mostly been there.”

“Oh, of course.”

Perry stopped his truck, and Ross put his hand on the door to leave and then changed his mind. He leaned over and gently kissed Perry. “Thanks for a wonderful evening. I guess I’ll see you on Monday.”

“You will, but I’ll be there tomorrow as well. The crew has the weekend off, but there are things I want to get done.”

Ross felt a smile breaking out over his face. “Can I help? Hold the ends of things for you? Fetch you coffee perhaps?”

“You might find it very boring. Why don’t you come for a little while, and if it’s deadly dull, you can leave. On Monday I’ll have some time to teach you how to do a few tasks, but these weekend jobs are ones I want to do myself.”

“I understand. Storm’s well known as a nitpicking perfectionist, although Cruz has been good for him. He was much worse before he started to date Cruz.”

Perry just laughed. Ross thought maybe it’d be unprofessional of him to agree with Ross because Storm was his client. He closed the truck door and crossed to his own car, beeping it open and waving goodbye to Perry.

He’d just had a couple of earth-shattering orgasms, but already he didn’t want to leave Perry. He’d need to keep his feelings controlled. If he was going to make a living in the building industry, he couldn’t afford to antagonize the members of Perry’s crew. They were all good men who worked hard, whereas he was still so new he was greener than grass.

Ross slept soundly, woke early, and dressed in an old pair of jeans and his sturdiest pair of boots. He’d better make time to buy himself a pair of proper work boots really soon, preferably before he dropped anything heavy on his foot.

He promised himself he’d watch carefully, concentrate seriously, and learn everything he possibly could as fast as he was able. But as he followed Perry around the framed up third story, which was going to be CC and Kathleen’s playroom, he found it wasn’t an effort to focus on the job. Everything Perry said made really good sense, and he found his mind drawing lines where Perry said they should be.
