CHAPTER EIGHT
“I had no idea this town had so many restaurants. What is your opinion?”
Logan scowled. “Hmm, maybe it wasn’t such a good idea. Possibly too much competition.” Logan settled back against a low wall running down the main street.
“I don’t agree. Other than the coffee shop we went to this morning, we didn’t see anything like it in all the places we visited.” Taryn reached out and touched Logan’s hand. “Rosie has always told me that the secret to success in restaurants is to give the masses what they want.” She shrugged. “I think you can do that.”
“Mass coffees?” Logan chuckled. “I can do that.”
“Yes, you can.” Taryn sat next to Logan. “Years ago, when I was five or six, my grandparents brought me here. We went to a place called Sanderson’s Peak. It’s just outside of town, and as I remember, we had to drive in a circle up the mountain. At the top is a platform where you can see three hundred and sixty degrees. I remember being mesmerized by what I saw.”
“Well, that sounds great. Shall we go? I love those scenic areas. One day, I’m going to go to the Grand Canyon, but that will have to be the next trip.” Logan grinned and stretched her body like a cat.

Thirty minutes later, Taryn and Logan stood side by side on the observation deck. “Look over there,” Taryn said pointing to the north. “See the river and the dam? If you continue in that direction, you can see where the falls were and after that the town.”
Logan stared at the scene below her and the fast running river. Boulders splattered along the route caused the river to crest in white waves. Looking at the horizon, she could make out the dam and, in the far distance, Taryn’s home town. With the clear blue sky above, this was certainly a peaceful and lovely place to spend some time. “I’d call this majestic and a place to reflect. Do you know what else?” She looked directly at Taryn.
“No, I don’t.”
Logan laughed and pointed to the large parking area. “We could have a stall here selling coffees, if we find out it’s a tourist trap.”
Taryn grinned. “You do have a point there. We’ll have to investigate the traffic that comes up here.” She pointed to the parking area. “Right now, we’d be the only ones buying coffee.”
“Hey, you have to start somewhere.” Logan pulled Taryn into her arms and kissed her slowly. As they broke apart, she whispered, “I feel like I’m alive again and making plans for the future. I haven’t done that since Lindy left me. Thank you.”
“Wanna tell me about it?”
“Are you interested? I don’t want to bore you.” Logan stared at the flowing river below.
Taryn wrapped her arms around Logan and pulled her close. “I want to know everything about you, Logan. The good, the bad, and the ugly.”
Logan snuggled close. “I met Lindy my last year in college. She was ten years older than me and came to campus to give a lecture on the food chain business.
