Chapter Six

Kiki walked over to his table, thinking about last night. He was still reeling over the fact that he’d actually watched Reese suck his cock. That was something he’d never done before. That didn’t mean he was ready to shed the fears and hang-ups he had, but it was a start.

Smiling at the man sitting at his table, Kiki noticed that the gentleman had one blue eye and one grey. It was a combination he’d never seen before, but looked attractive on the guy. “Can I start you off with something to drink?”

Kiki became uncomfortable when the man just sat there studying him. He wasn’t even looking at the menu. He started to say he’d give the guy time to think over his decision when the man spoke. That’s when he noticed a long, thick scar from under the man’s right ear, trailing to the middle of his throat, as if someone began to cut it and changed their mind. “I’ll have a water with lemon.”

Nodding, Kiki moved away from the table, having a déjà vu feeling and then he remembered where he’d seen those lifeless eyes before. Reese had looked that way when they were standing outside the movie theater, right by the tree. Not that Reese’s pretty eye color matched the stranger’s, but the lifelessness had been there, just as it was there now in the patron’s eyes.

Creepy.

“I think you have an admirer,” Rico said as he moved next to Kiki at the bar. “He can’t stop staring at you.”

Glancing over his shoulder, Kiki noticed the stranger still watching him, but it wasn’t in a way that suggested the guy was interested in sex. The stare was almost like the man was studying his prey before devouring him.

“He’s actually giving me the creeps,” Kiki confessed as he turned back around. He gave the bartender the order of water, wishing someone else could take his table. He’d dealt with a few less-than-friendly patrons in the short time that he’d worked here, but none looked lethal, like the guy could cut Kiki’s throat and walk away whistling.

It was a strange thought to have, but that was what entered his mind as he took the glass back over to the gentleman.

“Have you decided what you want?” Kiki asked as he pulled his pad out.

A wicked grin appeared on the man’s face. Kiki no longer thought him attractive. He just wanted to serve the guy his meal and get him out of there.

“Just a little too late.”

What did that mean? Kiki knew the man hadn’t looked at a menu because he hadn’t gone that far and didn’t see the man pick it up. “What did you want, sir?” he asked, maintaining a level of professionalism even though he wanted to hand the man off to someone else.

“I’ll start off with an appetizer of stuffed mushrooms.”

Kiki wrote it down, although he didn’t have to, but he wanted to look anywhere but at the guy who was making all his alarm bells go off.
