This morning, thousands of people drive down that internationally famous confluence of three streets—past the Sixth Floor Museum, south of the fence that previously marked the “Grassy Knoll,” to exit ramp 428B for Interstate 35E South, then moving over for Interstate 30E and the long line of cars headed to “Fair Park” and the Texas–Oklahoma football game.

Part of the charm of the Texas–Oklahoma game is where it's played—at the State Fair of Texas during the State Fair. It makes for a wonderful scene, as well as horrendous traffic and the seventh level of Dante's Parking Lot. The only relief from the traffic is that the Texas fans have no faith in the Longhorns coming close to defeating their most hated rival, so many are staying home; less faith means less traffic.

The secondary and online ticket market for the 110th edition of this game is depressed because practically no one believes this game will be worth watching. Fans could buy tickets for about $35 apiece online the night before the game; face value is over $100. The University of Texas athletic department returned thousands of tickets to the Cotton Bowl a few days before the game because they were not sold. When the two teams are good, a ticket can cost well over $1,000, and ushers are always rumored to accept a few bills to allow fans to walk in without a ticket.
