“Don"t you have to go to work in the morning?” Holton asked,

wondering just how long he would be held in Marcus"s arms.

“Not until noon,” Marcus answered, squeezing him a

little tighter. Feeling bolder, Holton ran his hands along

Marcus"s arm, feeling his muscles and soft, smooth skin. For

a second, he wondered why Marcus felt so smooth, but the

thought flew from Holton"s head as Marcus kissed him

again.

MARCUS woke with a start as someone slapped at his chest.

Jumping slightly, he opened his eyes in a darkened room,

feeling someone curled around him. Things came back to

him fast. Holton…. Marcus almost smiled when he was

smacked again, this time hard. Looking at Holton, he saw

his eyes were still closed, and he was thrashing and

whimpering in his sleep. No, that wasn"t right—he seemed to

be fighting in his sleep. “It"s okay,” he said softly, stroking

Holton"s back to try to soothe him. It seemed to be working,

because Holton settled down, still holding him tightly as he

slept.

After Holton"s emotional outburst, Marcus had held

Holton on the sofa, and the day seemed to catch up with

both of them. They"d kissed for a while and talked softly, but

eventually Marcus had drifted off. Holton must have as well

because he"d suddenly jumped, jerking them both awake. At

the time, Marcus had expected to leave, but Holton didn"t

seem to want to let him go, and Marcus would hold the man

as long as he wanted. Marcus had slipped off his shoes and

socks, lying on the bed next to Holton, fully expecting to

leave once Holton fell asleep. Instead, he"d drifted off as well.

Holton was now quiet and appeared to be sleeping

peacefully again. But Marcus"s mind kept running over

Holton"s revelation. He"d thought Holton was just shy and a

little nervous. But to find out that he"d never been kissed

and had been alone all these years because of what someone
