The next morning Wolfe woke up to the smell of bacon and eggs. Cracking his eyes open he saw Caleb wasn’t in bed with him. Determined to find his missing mate, Wolfe swung his legs off the bed only to come face-to-face with Kira, who had been standing there watching him sleep.

Realizing he was naked under the sheet Wolfe had no choice but to sit there until she left. Glancing at the clock he couldn’t believe it was twelve thirty. How had it gotten so late?

Glancing back at Kira, Wolfe knew he was trapped until he got her out of his room. “Hello, Kira. Did you sleep okay?”

She didn’t answer his question. Instead she asked her own. “You sleep a long time. Do you always sleep so much?”

Wolfe wasn’t quite sure how to answer her. Thankfully Caleb chose that moment to save him. “Kira, he was tired after rescuing me.”

Her eyes got real wide. “Did you really save Caleb?”

That wasn’t entirely accurate but decided to save a long list of questions and kept it simple. “Yes.”

She stared at him for several seconds before saying, “Thank you.” Wolfe hadn’t been prepared for her to climb up on the bed and give him a hug.

“Kira, Mom has your blueberry pancakes ready,” Caleb told her.

She pulled back from the hug and climbed off the bed. With big blue eyes that looked up at Wolfe earnestly she said, “If you want I can share my pancakes with you.”

Wolfe couldn’t help but smile at the offer. “Thank you, sweetie. Let me get dressed and I’ll be right out.”

Without another word she ran from the room.

“She likes you,” Caleb said as he came over to Wolfe to give him a kiss on the lips.

As much as Wolfe would have liked to extend the sweet kiss he knew it would only be a matter of time before Kira would come looking for them. So instead he quickly got dressed and walked hand in hand with his mate to the kitchen.

“You know I would really like a tour of your house,” Caleb said.

“Our house,” Wolfe corrected. He knew he’d said the right thing when Caleb gave him a dazzling smile. “I would love to show it to you. How about after breakfast?”

“It’s a date,” Caleb said as they walked into the kitchen.

“What’s a date?” Caleb’s mom asked.

Caleb grabbed a plate and handed it to Wolfe before grabbing one of his own. “Wolfe’s going to show me the house after breakfast.”

Wolfe noticed his mate wasn’t picking any of the carb-loaded food, like the pancakes or French toast. Instead he took a small portion of the scrambled eggs and some fruit. His plate looked woefully empty especially when compared to Wolfe’s who had taken five pancakes, a heaping mound of scrambled eggs, a dozen strips of bacon, and two slices of French toast. He also poured himself a large glass of orange juice, while his mate had water.

Making a mental note to watch his mate the rest of the day to ensure he was getting enough to eat Wolfe dug into his food.
