Ding!

Ding!

Ding!

His brothers were all persistent and Beau was freaking out. He had made a decision. But he had to clear some things first, which was why he and Jameson were on the way to see Harley.

“Your phone is going to explode,” Jameson said gruffly. The closer they got to White Valley, the darker Jameson seemed to get. Beau wasn’t sure he liked the person Jameson was as a beta. It didn’t make sense. Alphas and betas were supposed to help the pack be stronger, not be feared, which gave Beau the sense that that was what Jameson’s role was in the pack—to be feared.

“They will stop eventually.”

“You missed your meeting with Teague. Are you sure you want to do this?”

They hadn’t slept much after Beau had made his decision. Jameson hadn’t even been able to offer his work suggestion when Beau had blurted out his desired plan of action. They hadn’t argued, which had surprised Beau tremendously. Jameson supported his decision and had said he would help him make it happen though he had voiced some valid concerns, which included an explosively mad brother.

Ding!

Beau chanced a glance at his screen. Sloan.

Have you lost your fucking mind! What the fuck did you do that you would miss a meeting called by your alpha? Bro, you really fucked up this time.

“Thanks for the support,” Beau muttered.

Emery hadn’t been much more help.

You need to call Teague right now and tell him you are on the way. You are on the way, right? You didn’t do anything dumb like actually manage to get drunk? That is very nearly impossible, you know.

Leave it to Emery and his odd self to think he was just somewhere working off a bender. Shifters didn’t get hangovers often since it required drinking more liquor than could ever be imagined being ingested, but they could suffer from exhaustion from lack of sleep or exertion.

Then there was Cole, who knew more than anybody else but still tried to make peace among them all.

You’re anxious. But happy and at peace. It’s so odd to feel that from you. You haven’t ever felt this way before. I hope you’re going to let everybody know what has you so happy.

“Pup?” Jameson started hesitantly.

“Yeah.” Beau shot off a quick negative to Cole’s text and turned to watch Jameson maneuver the road.

“I need to tell you something.” He’s nervous about something. “And I think it is really important.”

Jameson was a nervous wreck. He was so proud of Beau for what he was about to do, and scared out of his mind because he knew that it could all blow up in his face. But he wanted Beau to know he backed him one hundred percent.

“Remember how you mentioned how much your wolf was happy and excited to be around me?”

Beau nodded. “Yeah, I don’t know why, but he is happier to be around you than anybody, even my family. It’s almost as if he knew you even though we had never met. And he doesn’t care about the stupid White Valley pack or the Suncrest Valley pack.
