The average lesson time is about 30 minutes. This is usually the amount of time that a child (and perhaps some adults) can handle before their concentration, or what is better known as attention-span, checks out the door. However, more advanced students will require more time since their required learning material is more extensive. A much more advanced piano student can easily use up ten minutes with a one-time-run-through of a Sonatina or Concerto.

Due to work schedule or other responsibilities, adult students often require flexibility on when they have lessons. Some people may only be available every other week. In cases such as these, you could teach students at alternate weeks at one hour per lesson.
