Punching holes
1 Piercing
A stylus, awl or toothpick can be used to pierce holes and add patterns to the surface of the clay prior to firing. With a steady hand, push the stylus needle into the clay to leave a round impression or pattern on the surface. To widen holes, rotate the stylus very slightly when the tip reaches the work surface.
Transferring images
1 Placing image
Trim the image transfer paper to the correct size for your piece and place face down in position on the clay. Burnish lightly with your ring finger to ensure contact between the paper and the clay.
