Chapter Eight

I picked my phone up to check the text alert that came in while I was feeding Rory and smiled when I saw Eric’s name.

Come up and see me before you start? I’m going to be here late. Still have shit to do from Melbourne, and Nicholas called in sick. Miss you.

I told him I would if I got on the early train but might not have time. I laughed when he sent a selfie back of serious puppy eyes.

I didn’t make the early train, but I did get a visitor in the staff room while I was changing into my uniform shirt.

I jumped when I caught sight of Eric in the mirror. I tossed my t-shirt onto my bag and reached for the uniform shirt from my locker. As he watched me get dressed, he didn’t say a word, not even moving when Aaron walked through the locker room.

When I was ready to go, I checked my watch. Buttoning up my shirt slowly to tease Eric meant I had to rush to get upstairs on time.

I kissed him hard on the lips. “Missed you too,” I mumbled before rushing out the door to the lift.
