Chapter Three
Gib snorted, not sure he believed what Edwin had said about him. He didn’t think he’d been strong when he survived the attack from his client. Hell, if he had been, he would’ve brought the man up on charges like Jake had wanted, but he’d been afraid that because there had been money exchanged, the cops wouldn’t have taken his claims seriously.
“I know you think I’m talking shit, but I’m serious, Gib. Maybe you think because I just met you, I don’t really know you. And you’re right, but I’m a good judge of character. Comes from meeting strangers in life and death situations, and having to make snap judgments that could cost me my life.” Edwin traced the dips and curves of Gib’s spine with his finger.
Trembling, Gib curled closer to Edwin. He didn’t want to think about what Edwin had said. He started to fake a yawn, but it turned into a real one.
Edwin nuzzled Gib’s temple. “I haven’t slept well since I was released by my captors. Maybe having you here in bed with me will help.”
Gib blinked, still trying to adjust to the fact that bad guys at some point had held Edwin prisoner in the past. He didn’t know of anyone who had lived through something like that.
“All right.” He wasn’t entirely sure Edwin had gotten all that he had paid for. “But I’m willing to go again if you want to.”
“I wanted someone to share their body with me, and you did that. I needed to know I wasn’t alone in the world, and the only time I’ve ever had that was when I was in bed with someone.” Edwin kissed Gib’s forehead. “You gave me that.”
Not convinced, Gib thought about it for a moment. “I work tomorrow, but I get off at eight. We could grab some dinner, then come back here.”
He wasn’t sure why he’d suggested they get together again. Normally, he only hung out with the client long enough to fuck, then he headed back home.
“I’d love to have dinner with you. I have a meeting in the morning, so I have to get up early, but you’re welcome to stay as long as you want.” Edwin shifted slightly until he must have found the right position. “Thank you, Gib.”
“You’re welcome,” Gib said, then let silence fall between them. They would have some more fun tomorrow night, and Gib would make sure Edwin got his money’s worth. There was a reason why Gib demanded a large payment.
As he absorbed the warmth emanating from Edwin’s body, Gib let his eyes drift shut. There wasn’t any point in worrying about Edwin being disappointed right then.
* * * *
Knocking woke Gib the next morning. Stretching, he rolled over on his back and blinked up at the ceiling. Okay, that’s not my ceiling, and it doesn’t look like the ceiling in the room I usually use.
“Gib, room service is here. I took the liberty of ordering breakfast for you. If you don’t like anything, don’t eat it, and order something you do like.
