I grab my phone, noticing I have a missed call from Charlie but using the flashlight to illuminate the folded piece of paper.

The path to paradise begins in Hell.

“Dante?” Ethan says aloud.

Suddenly, Michael’s words from Ethan’s rescue come flooding back to me.

“…I am going to bring an end to this dynasty, and watch it go up in a blazing inferno.”

I look up at Ethan as Josiah smashes open the door to my office, and I immediately know something terrible has happened.

“Where is she?” I shout as I storm into the loading bay.

“Where is my wife?!”

“She’s not answering her phone!” Steph says, panic rising in her voice. “Oh my God, Jaxon, what the hell is going on?!”

“Exactly what I want to know!” I snap glaring at Wesley.

“The one guy said there was a man who had passed out,” Wesley says, wiping his bleeding forehead. “We all followed her out here, but then out of nowhere these men jumped us! Both Charlie and I got a shot off, but they took off in a black van!”

I grab him by the shirt.

“A black fucking van?!” I shout into his face. “Do you know how many fucking black vans there are in Chicago, motherfucker?!”

“I tried, Sir! I swear!”

I pull my pistol and put it to Wesley’s forehead as the rest of the workers in the loading bay scatter.
