CHAPTER FOUR
Alex’s father arrived at the Pack house the following morning. He wasn’t expected, but stated to the sentry on duty that he was there to check on the welfare of his son Alex Dane. After a lengthy period of checking ID and running a computer search on him, the sentry sent for Alex.
Everyone had been alerted that a threat had been issued against Alex and he was staying at the Pack house under the protection of Alpha Wilson. It was also circulated that Alex was Beta Craig’s mate, which was met with even more increased security measures. Civilians were one thing, but a mate was precious.
“Dad, what are you doing here?” Alex rushed into the open arms of his worried father. Craig followed close behind, never letting Alex get to far away from him. A low growl had Alex stepping back from his father, but still holding his arms. Alex understood Craig’s jealousy and did not make issue with it. Craig had explained that until the claiming was complete his wolf was on edge and could not handle Alex getting close to another male in any way. Alex had promised not to agitate Craig’s wolf.
Vincent Dane heard the growl and saw his son step away from him. He shot Craig a glare that was less than friendly. Craig held his own and maintained the elder Dane’s gaze. Alex sensed the tension and made to defuse it immediately. “Dad this is Craig Finnegan my boyfriend and Craig this is my father Vincent Dane.” The two men took a step towards each other like two powerful predators sizing each other up. They were well matched in regards to height and weight. Vincent stuck out his hand and Craig grasped it firmly.
“I’m pleased to meet you sir.” Craig said and then released his hand.
“I wasn’t aware that Alex had a boyfriend. I’m glad to meet you too. You seem capable and sharp.” Vincent stepped back, but continued to eye the other man speculatively. “Where did you and Alex meet?”
“We met at a local bar dad. Craig saved me from a beat down in the bathroom.” Alex got between the two men. The statement that Craig had intervened and prevented Alex from being hurt was all it took to warm the man’s chilly demeanor.
“I’m glad you were there for him.” Vincent was deadly serious and thankful.
“I’m glad I was too. Alex is very special.” Craig’s honesty and devotion was very clear and appreciated.
“Yes he is. Thank you.”
“Okay now if you two are all done strutting your stuff let’s go take a seat and you can tell me why you’ve driven all this way to see me.” Alex took them both by the arm and led them to the living room. Vince took a seat on the sofa and Alex and Craig sat together on the opposite love seat. Vince leaned forward with this forearms resting on his thighs and gave his son that look that said shit was happening.
“Adrian has made more threats.
