CHAPTER 10

Lymee let out a loud cry as she sped up her strikes moving it around the hat rack looking contraption. Her wrist and forearms striking the wood arms before she struck the wooden center pole. She gave a final loud Kia as she threw both her palms into the center.

“Working off some stress I see,” a voice called out from across the dojo like room.

Lymee turned to see who it was. Standing on the other side of the room was a tall well-built woman who had a shirt thrown around her shoulders like a blanket and simple wrapping around her chest flattening her breasts. She had a pleased smile on her face as she looked at Lymee.

“Good morning General Haru,” Lymee let out a breath as she rested her hand on top of the wooden dummy. “It’s been a while.”

“That it has,” Haru nodded as she crossed the room.

The mercenary general Haru. Known by all but Lymee by her common name Chee. She had been the most vocally against Lymee being adopted into the Su family. Then they fought out their differences in the arena and Haru had been her friend and sparing partner ever since.

“Glad to see you’ve returned,” Haru said stopping in front of Lymee. “Taking a break from your pillaging and smiting of defenseless villages to visit us?”

“That wasn’t me,” Lymee said turning back to the wooden dummy. “That was just some woman taking advantage of my name. She has subsequently been dealt with.” She furiously started her onslaught again. She was hitting the wooden post harder than she should and she knew she would have bruises for it later but that was half the point, to build up endurance.

“I never thought for a moment that it really was you,” Haru assured placing a hand on her hip. “So then who was this woman who had the gall to impersonate you?”

“Honestly,” Lymee paused resting her wrist on the dummy as she thought about the sniveling woman cowering under Lymee’s boot. “Nobody worth remembering.” Lymee chewed on her bottom lip for a moment before going back to her strikes. “I never even bothered to learn her name.”

“Yet your moves say that you are still upset about something.” Haru simply stood there as she watched Lymee work her hand casually resting on her hip the other resting at her side.

“Just got some bad news is all. So I needed to clear my head a little,” Lymee said without a break in her rhythm. Maybe five people knew about Alia’s condition and Haru was not one of them. As much as she might want to confide in her she could not tell her anything. “I’m just glad you were able to make one of these,” she said referring to the wood dummy. “Doesn’t it make training by yourself so much easier?”

“Sorry to tell you but you but we already had these in this world,” Haru stated. “We just didn’t have any here. Sai had one delivered after a correspondence from you, if I recall correctly.
