I DON’T BOTHER asking the front desk which room he’s in. Andre wouldn’t stay anywhere but the nicest suite they have, especially now that he has Madison’s friend Paisley at his side.

I take the elevator up, going straight to the top floor. I’ve done business in this hotel before and rented out the exact suite I know he’s in.

I smile at one of the housekeepers as she rolls her cart past me, doing my best not to look like I’m ready to rip a man’s head from his body.

Because of Andre, I spent my first years in Miami alone, unwilling to let anyone close enough to penetrate the bubble of isolation his rejection built around me.

But I’m finally past that. I finally have people in my life again. An inner circle that believes in me more than he ever did.

Madison was going to be part of that circle.

Is going to be part of that circle.

And Andre’s about to find out what happens when you try to take someone I’ve promised to protect from me.

I reach the door and clench my fist, relaxing my fingers and shaking them out as I resist the urge to react.

Strategy and self-control are important commodities that few men in my world possess, so I’ve learned to use the fact that I do to my advantage.

I lift my hand and lightly knock on the door, tucking it back into my pocket as I rock back on my heels and wait.

Andre knows I’m coming, but I don’t think he expects me to walk up and knock on his door.

I’m sure he doesn’t think I have the balls. It’s one more way I have the upper hand against him.

I’ve changed. I’m better. Stronger.

Smarter.

The door swings open and a man who isn’t Andre stares back at me, the swelling surrounding his nose and blackening his eyes helping me narrow down the search for the person responsible for taking Madison from my home. “Can I help you?”

“I think you can.” I move fast. Fast enough he doesn’t have time to react.

I step into the suite, hooking one arm around his neck, spinning him until his back is pinned to my front. I whip the same knife I used on Yago from my pocket and press it to his neck, my words barely hissing out through the clench of my teeth. “Where is she?”

So much for not overreacting and self-control.

“Andre.” The man summons my brother, as if he believes that will save him.

I’m not sure it will. Not at this point.

Because right now I will do whatever it takes to get Madison back.

To make it clear no one should ever take her from me again.

And if that means killing everyone currently standing between me and her, then so be it.

I watch as a ghost from my past steps into sight, a drink in one hand as the other tucks into his pocket. His eyes sweep over the scene in front of him before he tips his head. “Beck.”

I don’t respond. He doesn’t deserve a response from me.
