Chapter Nine
Amara
It was hard to put into words. But during our last sexual encounter, something inside of me cracked into a million pieces and floated away. I was free from a weight that I had known was there, had accepted, in fact, as part of me. But King had shattered it, and now I was free from the burden.
King and I were in his luxurious vineyard shuttle bus for the rich and famous. My new name for the vehicle was R.F. I donât know how much he spent on it and, quite frankly, didnât care, but I noticed many of his five-star reviews mentioned the shuttle bus. Having been on a few wine tour buses, I couldnât understand what was so great to have added a tour bus to a review until I stepped into it.
To see is to believe. No other bus came close to this sumptuous moving wine room. A long bar sat against one side with a few swivel stools. Additional overstuffed leather swivel chairs created the feeling of sitting in cozy nooks along the busâs length. The upholstery and features added to the sense of being in a high-end tasting room. Two bathrooms on either side were done in rich red tones and accentuated in gold and black.
King drove the bus, which he said he never did, but we had six people to pick up, of which two were personal friends, and he wanted our time to be as private as possible. Of the remaining four, two were the dates of his friends, and the other couple was unknown, but he knew of the gentleman by reputation
I was super nervous, and for a good reason, all his friends were rich, like King, and although he wasnât snooty like his upper-crust English accent would suggest, I didnât know about his friends. King had alluded to desiring to offer business propositions to these âfriendsâ but hadnât let me in on his vision yet. Heâd promised I would have a seat at the table when the deal was offered.
I plucked at my cranberry-colored pencil skirt, wondering for the hundredth time if I looked okay. King had dressed me, and I wasnât used to looking so, uh, classy. Heâd paired my skirt with a sleeveless black silk blouse and those stockings with the seam down the back accompanied by sexy black slingbacks on my feet.
King had said that this was part of the business. Dressing and presenting an image of success was as important as everything else we did for our product. My King was so successful Iâd asked him to dress me. I did my makeup and hair, braiding it and pulling the braid into a low bun.
King had waited for me and offered me a box when I exited the bathroom. âWhatâs this?â
âJust open it.â His excitement was evident in his shining eyes.
I cracked open the box and found a diamond necklace, a pear-shaped figure eight with a pink diamond in the bottom circle, and a smaller black diamond in the top of the eight.
