Summary of Part II

* * *

Reflecting on the analysis presented in Part II certain conclusions can be drawn pertaining to human system activities in general and not only in sports. First, human systems are complex, barely controlled and unpredictable. This is because they are self-organized and their behaviour (activities) is emergent and non-linear in response to stimuli (agency, intervention, perturbation etc.). Because of these bio-psychological factors, their study and analysis requires appropriate approaches, means and tools.

Second, human systems exist and act in a ‘cat’s cradle’ of hierarchical and net connections; they form conglomerates that are divided into levels. These levels and their effective collaboration are a major subject of analytics. This is particularly important because of the need for effective DM on (or in favour of) each level and certain ambiguities about the decision maker on each level (see Chapter 4). Because a human is both a bio-psychological and free-will complex system (FCS ~ PMDS) (see Chapter 5) and also a social unit, a wide spectrum of scientific disciplines (and thus means and tools) has to be used for the adequate testing, diagnosis and analysis of such systems. This makes the analytics of the human system ‘a complex’ (see Chapter 3).
