Bastion snuck out of the back door, and it was so easy because of the way everyone was distracted with the fight. No one was yelling or cheering like he’d expected. They were all quiet while the grunts of pain went on, and the sounds of flesh hitting against flesh rose up into the air.
Bastion rushed around to the side of the house and he could barely see anything that was going on because of the circle the alphas had all made around their pack leader as he fought against Leo. It was like they were in a trance like state, like those people who drove by a wreck and had to see it. In fact, Roarke was the only one yelling.
“Fight me back!”
“Roarke, please stop,” Westley said.
Bastion spotted the man, and he was shocked to see him there at all. He was holding his son, and the bottle in the baby’s mouth kept little Leo quiet, but Westley looked like he was being ripped in half. Maddox and Jason were standing in front of him, clearly trying to keep him from getting between the two alphas when he had a child in his arms, and maybe also trying to shield him with their bodies from the things that he was seeing.
From the sound of it, Roarke wasn’t going to stop any time soon, either.
Well, Bastion wasn’t holding a child, and the fact of the matter was that it was his mate who was being beat up in there over some stupid alpha instincts. He rushed over and pushed his way through the wall of alphas. They let him pass, which shocked him, but the sight he was looking at scared him.
Leo was on the ground, and his eye was swollen shut and there was blood dripping from his mouth. The only blood Roarke had on him was on his knuckles, and Bastion was willing to bet everything he owned that it was only because of how he’d been punching Leo so relentlessly.
Leo’s nose also appeared crooked, and he’d been staring up at Roarke defiantly, which of course only made the other alpha angrier, the idiot.
“Roarke! Stop it now!” Bastion yelled, and that was all it took to make the other alpha turn around and look at Bastion as he rushed over to where his mate was lying.
Roarke got up off of Leo, but he didn’t step away. He looked like he wanted to keep on beating his face into the ground.
At first Bastion was hoping that it wasn’t all that bad, and that maybe it only looked worse than it was. Alphas were supposed to be able to take a lot of punishment, right?
Nope. Leo could barely lift his head to look at him when Bastion was finally at his side.
“Told you to stay in the house,” Leo said, and his voice was slurred. Bastion was impressed that the man had managed to keep all of his teeth.
“I’m a disobedient omega,” Bastion said, and he glared up at Roarke.
