The possibilities are limitless as far as size and materials. Your box can be the size of a packing crate or a small building. You can make it from wood, plastic, metal, stones, bricks, cinderblocks, or fencing wire, which is not a complete list. Like other indoor coops, you can attach it directly to a run space or have it open to a free range area.

I don’t really have any specific guidance for you on making a Box Coop. But I think it’s important to mention that you can build a very straightforward coop that does not depend on a lot of fancy building skills. It is very easy to be intimidated when you look at some of the slicker, more expensive coops. Many of them require advanced building knowledge and expertise.
