The First Cut

For a long, long time, Emily couldn’t bring herself to cut the insect. Finally she relaxed and opened the insect. Practising helped. She went to her dissection classes and never again felt that initial sickness and disgust.

Emily was often tired after her long days at Medical School. She had to get up early and dissect until 9 o’clock. Then she listened to lectures, went back to the dissecting room and then home for dinner. After dinner she studied her notes, read books or wrote letters. Somehow, she even found time to meet new people.
