Chapter Twenty-Three

Amado

My body remains rigid as I wait outside of Rafaella’s house until she closes her front door close before making my way to my truck. My hands grip the steering wheel ignoring the sound of the leather slowly expands forcing myself to wait another thirty minutes to make sure her crazy ass does not leave her house. My head leans back against the headrest as my body forces steady breaths in and out. I know she use to date Muerto but finding out she was pregnant shocked the fuck out of me. There is only one piece of the puzzle that does not seem to fit in at all and I need answers. Now. My hand reaches for my phone in the center council before opening the message to the only person why can give me the answers I need. On my way to your house. We need to talk.

Driving through the city, the streets are scarce showing just how late it is. It is a quarter past four. The only people that are out at this time would be policemen, people who are asking to be robbed, or connected people who know that nothing will happen to them. Reaching for the volume knob on my stereo and put the music on blast as I being to breeze through the streets. Ignoring traffic lights and signs, not giving an absolute fuck. Policemen know better than to stop me.

It isn’t until I have reached the subdivision that my foot eases off the gas and begins to press onto the break so that I would be able to punch in the access code into the keypad. The metal groans as it slowly opens waiting until they were wide enough for my truck to go through. Driving up the mountain to the very top has always been a hassle but the bastard always loved a good view. One of Archivaldo’s men motions for me to pull up into his garage making sure to close the garage door behind me. Waiting until it closes before getting out of the car and let myself in the house. The door from the garage leads directly into the kitchen which is also open into the living room. All the lights are off in the kitchen but I can see that there is only one light from a lamp turned on in the living room. There Archivaldo sits on the couch with his elbows resting on his knees and with his head hanging down and a cigarette in one hand and a glass of whiskey in the other. Archivaldo rarely smokes, only does so when he is stressed which is an indication this conversation is not going to be a good one. Walking in the darkness until I am finally in the living room. Neither of us say a word. I take a seat on the couch opposite to him. Wanting to be able to see his eyes and facial expressions for what is to come. Archivaldo
