The Olympic Stadium

West of the stadium, the Glockenturm (bell tower) gives a magnificent view over the Olympic site. Beyond the tower, a pathway leads to the Waldbühne, an open-air amphitheatre, which is a summer venue for pop and classical concerts.

On Messedamm, southeast of the stadium, stands another colossus, the famous ICC (International Congress Centre). One of the world’s biggest convention centres, the complex is also used for staging cultural events. Next to it on the equally huge Messe und Ausstellungsgelände (Trade Fair and Exhibition Area), the Funkturm (Radio Tower) is positively tiny; 150m (492ft) to the tip of its antenna, less than half the height of the Television Tower (for more information, click here). For breathtaking views, take the lift to the restaurant, 55m (180ft) up, or to the observation platform right at the top.
