Brown Eggs Are Local Eggs

And local eggs are fresh! You may want an egg source for your backyard homestead. There are several options available, chickens being the obvious one. Chickens are great egg sources as well as good meat. When a chicken’s egg production decreases, it is a perfect candidate for dinner. The benefits of having a small chicken flock in your yard is that they eat all the icky pests that roam your property and their waste serves as excellent fertilizer, especially when fed proper nutrients. However, they can be loud and not every city or town allows chickens.
