"Oh Miss," The sales lady called from behind the counter at Bergdorf's, "we have sample paper for that." She hurried to me looking more like a perky poodle than a human. She wore a bright pink blouse with puffy sleeves and a giant bow tied at her neck and high-waisted pants that flared out so wide they looked like a life raft. She looked utterly ridiculous. I liked it.

She extended her arm to give me the small piece of rectangular paper. "You can use this. No use in smelling like a man." She laughed.

"Why not?" I asked with a blank expression. In my hand, I held a man's cologne bottle. I had ordered one brand online, a scent Titan had picked up on. It was time to have some more fun. I had smelt ten different scents here in the store—all were nice smelling, but none were Titan’s distinct scent. A smell I longed to have because I liked torture, even if it was torturing myself. This last bottle by Giorgio Armani I quite liked, so I took the liberty to spritz it on my neck and wrist.

"Oh well…" The sales lady looked puzzled. Although it was fun to make people squirm, I didn't have time for her. I needed to check on Mila, who I left upstairs in the Saint Laurent suite.

"I'll take all of it," I exclaimed as I sprayed one more note of the cologne onto my leather jacket.

"All of what, Miss?"

"All of the men's college."

“All of it?” She asked with wide eyes and an upturned smile.

"Yes," I hissed, "account is under Baladan. Have it shipped to my address today."

I walked away with tension building in my shoulders. Calm down, Nova! Sometimes I felt wired too tight, and I could snap. Snapping at Bergdorf's wasn't good. I was here for retail therapy, not an outlet for my rage.

I marched to the escalator; once on the step, I raised my wrist to my nose and inhaled deeply. The scent of the cologne calmed me, so I inhaled again. Once I reached the floor, I pulled out my macaroon-flavored matte lipstick from Maybelline. Mila introduced me to the brand that came out with matte lipstick in different scents. I still prefer the taste of the gloss, but I was always up for trying something new.

Once we arrived at Bergdorf's, I thrusted Mila with a personal stylist and told her to focus on Saint Laurent, known for their sexy styles. I hoped it gave Mila the boost she needed. I plopped down on the red velvet armchair as if I were an exhausted Queen. Tipping my head back, I closed my eyes and waited for Mila to appear outside the fitting room. I could hear her hems and haws from outside the fitting room.

"Is there anything I can help you find, Miss. Baladan?" A sales associate dressed in the latest Gucci collection asked me.

"I'm in the mood to look eccentric. I think it might be fun to look like a poodle," I said.
