A cluster of ethnic groups in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Zaire). It includes several groups including the Hunde, Nyanga, and Yira.

KIYAKA

A Bantu-speaking people. The Kiyaka, also known as Bayaka, are concentrated in the northern areas of Angola and the southwestern regions of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Zaire). Their neighbors in both countries are the Kongo (Bakongo), Kusu (Bakusu), and Lunda (Balunda) peoples.

KOBA

The Koba are a Bantu-speaking people. They are concentrated in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Zaire) and Zambia.

KOBCHI

The Kobchi are a West African Bantu-speaking people. They are concentrated in the central areas of Nigeria.

KOBE

The Kobe, also spelled Kobe, are a Zaghawa subgroup. They speak a distinct Saharan language along with Arabic. Their main concentrations are located along the Chadian-Sudanese borders. Their neighbors include the Bideyat, Daza, Gimr, Noarma, and Tama peoples.

KOCHOQUA

An extinct South African people. The Kochoqua used to live in the southwestern regions of what is presently the Republic of South Africa.

KODOI

The Kodoi, also known as the Kodoy, are a Maba subgroup. They live in Chad, primarily in its south central Ouaddai region of the country. Groups of them, however, can also be found in northeastern Nigeria.

KOFYAR

The Kofyar are a West African people. They are concentrated in the central regions of Nigeria, primarily in the Plateau State. Their major subgroups include the Jaghnim and the Jortu.

KOHUMONO

The Kohumono, also identified as the Bahumono, Ediba, and Ekumuru, are a West African people. Their main concentrations are in the Cross River State in Nigeria.

KOKI

The Koki, also spelled Koke, are an East African people. They are concentrated in the southwestern regions of Uganda, as well as in the Moyen-Chari and Guéré prefectures in Chad.

KOKOFU

The Kokofu are a West African people. They are one of the subgroups of the Asante people. Their main concentrations are in Ghana.

KOKORDA

A Central and East African people. The Kokorda are concentrated in Chad and Sudan. They are a Daza subgroup.

KOLA, see also KOLE

The Kola are one of the Chadian Kuri subgroups. They speak Yedina, a Buduma dialect. Like other Kuri groups, they live along the eastern shores of Lake Chad.

KOLE

The Kole, also spelled Kola, are a West and West Central African people. They are one of the many Pygmy people of Equatorial Africa. Originally, they inhabited the tropical rain forest, in what is now within the Republic of Congo. Subsequently, they moved to other areas. Of these groups, the Kole among them eventually settled in the southeastern coastal areas of Cameroon. They are essentially hunters, foragers and potters.

KOLELA

The Kolela-also known as the Qela, Chilala, Dakarkari, Dakkarari, Lalawa, Lela, and Lelau- are a West African Muslim people. They are located in Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Niger and Nigeria. The Kolela are one of the subgroups of the Songhai people.
