Devin walked into the living room carrying Ginny.

“Hey, Shorty!” Duncan smiled at her. “This lady wants to talk to you. Okay?”

Ginny frowned at her, then shook her head. She looked at Devin, “I don’t knowed her Uncle Devin, and I don’t want to talk to her. Mama says not to talk to strangers.” She told him in a whisper.

Devin smiled down at her. “You are so smart, Short cake.” He hugged her to him. “Only this time, you can talk to her, and your Uncle Duncan and I will be here with you, to make sure you are safe. Sound good, Sweetie?”

“Will you or Uncle Duncan sitted with me?” Ginny asked shyly.

“Absolutely, sweetheart, we will be with you.” Duncan told her with a smile. “Devin why don’t you sit with her.”

Ginny shook her strawberry blonde head. “I want you, Uncle Duncan, please?” She gave him a pleading look.

Duncan felt his heart completely melt at her words. “Sure thing, Sweetie.” He stepped over and took her from Devin, then sat down on the couch with her. He handed Devin his phone to record what was said, because he knew how these bastards worked, and liked to fudge their paperwork, to create reports. Ms. Brant knew she was being recorded, so he hoped it would keep her honest. When Ginny cuddled into him closer, he saw the disapproving frown on the social workers face.

“How long have you known Shannon and little Ginny, here, Mr. Kentrell?” She asked him harshly.

“First of all know that I never consented to answering questions, Ms. Brant. However, I will humor this one. I met her about 4 weeks ago, same as Devin. But if Drake loves them and thinks of them as family, then we do too, besides how can anyone not adore this little darlin’. Have you seen that little smile of hers? Even our brother Damien and his wife Jaden adore both her mother and Ginny here. Not to mention our mother and father.” Duncan informed her, then hugged the little girl to him, even as his heart ached, for the loss of his own little child.

“Ginny, why do you call them Uncle Duncan and Uncle Devin. Did someone tell you, you had too?” Claire asked Ginny.

Ginny looked at her and frowned. “’Acause they sayed I could when I asked if I could.”

“But they aren’t really your uncles.” Claire frowned at the little girl.

“They are the bestest Uncles ever!” Ginny told her stubbornly, raising her chin.

“Okay, can I ask you another question? Do you like living here?” Claire forged ahead not waiting for the girl to give her permission.

Ginny smiled brightly. “I love living here, Drake’s house is super big! And hims bought me lots a toys and made me a princess bedroom. Aunty Jaden comeded and painted pretty pictures on my walls, and Uncle Duncan and Uncle Devin, helped Drake build my castle bed, it has a slide and everythin’.”

“Well, that does sound awfully exciting.” Claire said with a smile. “Do you ever sleep in Drake’s bedroom instead of your own.
