Jamie’s head was muzzy, he felt nauseated and he couldn’t seem to open his eyes, and he didn’t understand why. He’d had his shower and then… He couldn’t remember anything. Maybe he should have had another dialysis treatment before the marathon sex session with Brandon. Speaking of… Was he still in Brandon’s bathroom, or had Brandon found him and brought him back into the bedroom? Jamie’s thoughts began picking up pace. He couldn’t feel the bed beneath his back. In fact, as he became more aware of his body, he realised he was hanging from his arms. He forced his eyes open a crack and noticed that he was no longer in Brandon’s apartment, and that the room, or cell, he was in was made completely of stone, with a solid-looking wooden door in the far wall. And that he was indeed hanging from shackles around his wrists, which were fastened to a metal ring in the ceiling of the cell. He was also naked, which wasn’t a particularly good sign. He carefully turned his head, looking to see if whoever had captured him had taken Brandon too, but there was no sign of him in the cell.

It had to be the Weavers. Jamie’s nausea now had little to do with whatever they’d fed into his system. He’d been drugged, and as his mind slowly began to clear a little, he came to the realisation that there was only one person who could’ve done it. He was so very stupid. He’d known that Brandon had been a bad idea, but he’d ignored his instincts for the first time in years, and he’d paid the price. Jamie didn’t know how long he’d been unconscious, but he was pretty certain they’d moved him from Brandon’s place to somewhere more private. It would be difficult to torture and kill someone in an apartment block with neighbours all around. He debated whether to call out, to try to get the show on the road and force their hand before they were fully prepared, but then decided against it. He needed to be sharp, ready for any opportunity, so he needed more time to recover from the drug Brandon had slipped him.

It took two hours, by Jamie’s internal clock, for one of his captors to appear. He heard the footsteps on the stone floor outside, then a click as the door was unlocked. Two men stepped through the door. One was Brandon. The other was an older version of him. He had to be his father. As soon as they walked through the door Jamie could feel it. That subtle shift in the air that told him a Weaver was present. He could sense it surrounding Brandon too. Then he remembered why he’d felt that nagging sense of familiarity about Brandon, a feeling that he’d conveniently ignored. Brandon was the Weaver he’d seen that night on the street, all those weeks ago. Jamie mentally kicked himself again. How could he have not remembered? He’d sensed such power that night.
