Plant Cover Crops

As the name implies, cover crops are beneficial in protecting any exposed patches of earth. Furthermore, they provide essential nutrients and make sure that the microbes that are living underneath have a good environment to thrive in.

Cover crops should be a part of your organic farm if you want to prevent water and wind erosion from destroying your crops.

Good examples of cover crops include a mixture of legumes and grass. You can plant crimson clovers if you want to add colorful flowers in your garden. Subterranean clovers, on the other hand, contain plant residues that keep the weeds at bay.

Radishes can also be good cover crops because they can endure harsh winters. They also produce adequate amounts of glucosinolates that prevents parasitic nematodes from infecting your plants.

If you are experiencing any predatory nematode infestation, choose cover crops that belong to the brassica family.
