What’s funny is that I JUST wrote a section on the sharks and swindlers out there who scavenge the Internet buying up similar domain names and then try to sell them to people like me for a quick buck. Wow, you are only asking a mere $557? How ridiculous. I want to thank you for reinforcing my decision to steer all of my readers away from people who offer this shady service.

Steer clear of domain name vultures; they’re only looking to scam the naïve victim. You can find a name that will work for you. Dot-coms are the most memorable to choose from, but if your creativity fails you, .net, .org, .biz, and .info are suitable choices.

Once you’ve secured your name, you’ll need to browse the hosting servers to choose your website hosting platform. A server allows you to build, maintain, and add content to your website. If you’re considering a free hosting site, read the fine print. Free sites post banners for other companies. This looks amateur. The only free exception I like is a blogging site. You can start a blog and use it as your website, though it limits the bells and whistles. Check out the blogging platforms list to make a decision.
