Chapter 7

Zorica

Our wedding ceremony takes place in the castle’s main garden.

I’m wearing a beautiful white gown with a draped hem and beaded bodice. It’s two hundred years old—a gift from my father-in-law, Colin. The necklace glowing around my neck is a gift from Hugh. The pearls are five hundred years old. I’m holding a bouquet of red and white roses—a gift from Declan. Every evening, the smell of roses and his kisses wake me. I told him it would be easier for him to grow roses in our garden instead of buying them, and he liked the idea.

Declan is wearing his jeans and cut on top of a white shirt. He hates wearing shirts with stiff collars—every cell of his body oozes it, but he masks it with his signature grin.

Torches burn around us as the swishing sound of their fierce flames mingles with the murmur of the hunters’ voices. A chill bites my exposed shoulders. Thin streaks of mist wreath the plants illuminated by the silver light of the moon. Hugh growls to silence the attendants and pronounces us husband and wife.

We kiss like nobody is watching us.

Declan leans over me and scoops me up into his arms. He carries me over to the bar, jumping from the wide stone terraces that hold plants, three pergolas, and wooden benches. We tumble inside it, kissing and laughing. After the toast and wedding cake, Declan’s dad brands me. My husband’s wish. His fantasy to be precise. I like my tattoo though. It makes me belong to Declan even more. It reads that I’m his property, but that’s how bikers get married, so I’m thrilled about it.

We eat and drink and dance. Hugh is looking after Neve, or at least is trying to because her granddad tries to kidnap her at every opportunity.

We’re going to live in that beautiful house that was once the gardener’s house. I found their photos in the basement—a family of seven. Brad made beautiful frames for me and I hung the photos in the living room. Ours will join them soon. Yes, I can be photographed unlike undeads.

I’m still learning about the clubhouse and its rules. There are human women here—two blondes, three brunettes and one redhead. They’re unaware of the club members’ true identity.

They’re waitresses, cooks and cleaners. In the meantime, they’re entertainment.

Well… The boys need them. My husband doesn’t.

I’ve asked him about them once, but he was so furious with me I wish I hadn’t.

“You think I want those skunks, Zorica?” he yelled. “How can you even ask me about them? I wouldn’t touch them even with a five foot pole.”

“I just wanted to know who they are, Declan.”

“They’re bar trash.”

“They’re useful to the club members. Don’t call them like that. This is rude.”

“You’re not interested in women, are you?” He looked at me with suspicion.

“My God, Declan. You’re impossible.”

“I’m not. I’m only interested in my little Mora.”

Right. Everything is crystal clear between us.

I move on my husband’s lap as his hot lips wander on my neck.
