Chapter 14
Jess woke Swift up around six in the morning.
âTrek, I have to get ready for work. What are your plans for the day?â asked Jess.
Swift didn't attend to spend the night. He realized he had gotten too comfortable and knew he could let this happen again. Swift quickly gathered his things and started to exit the bedroom.
"I donât mean to sound like I am kicking you out. Last night was fun, Trek. How long are you going to be in town?" Jess inquired.
Swift turned around, "A Day or so. I'm retired, so I am in no rush."
"You're a little young to be retired."
"Yeah, I get that a lot."
A car was pulling into the driveway. "Is this your girlfriendâ¦Iâm sorry roommate. Should I be nervous?" Swift said jokingly.
Jess walked out of the bedroom and looked out the kitchen window, "No, why would you need to be?" Jess started to wave at the person in the vehicle. "Do you want to meet her?"
"Maybe at a different time. How do I get back to my truck?"
Jess and Swift walked out of the house and onto the patio.
"Just make a right and keep straight for a few blocks. You will see the sign. Here's my number if you want to meet me before heading out of town. Goodbye, Trek" Jess kissed Swift on the cheek and moved to the driveway.
Swift started walking towards the road. âOnce I get back to my laptop, Iâll see what I can get from the spyware. As a matter of fact.â Swift a message to Team Shadow advising them of what he had done. Since everything ties back to their secure network, they would be able to access it and provide Swift some answers quicker.
The person in the vehicle got out and said, "Jess, it seems like you had fun last night." with a laugh. This individual had an accent Swift couldn't place at the moment. He was experiencing the side effects of his drinking last night. He looked back to see what the person looked like. He only saw a side profile of her face. She was around Swift's height, 5'8-5'9, with brown skin, an average build, and long dark hair. He couldn't see any visible tattoos.
Jess waved at Swift while the roommate was gathering her items from the car. Swift waved and started walking back to Tacky Jacks.
Swift's phone started ringing. It was a blocked number. A common practice Team Shadow used when they had information. Swift answered, "Anata wa kage ni sunde imasu ka?" This is Japanese, meaning "Do you live in the shadows?" The person responded, "Åku no uchi no 1tsu," meaning "One of many." Because of this, Swift knew he was speaking to someone from Team Shadow.
"Make this quick," Swift said.
"From the spyware you installed last night, we figured out Jess Patrick is Jessica North. After her accident, she has moved from state to state and has changed her name many times."
"Currently, we are not able to get any financial information. She has no property in her name.
