Chapter 9

Willow

I wake to the sickly-sweet smell, unsure if it’s real or part of the nightmare I was having. Either way, it freaks me out, especially since, I wake up to an empty bed. I roll over to peer down at the floor where the rest of the guys were sleeping, but their makeshift beds are empty as well. Growing more scared by the second, I lean my chest over the other side and gasp at what I see. Zane is lying there, a very obvious morning glory poking up from under the thin sheet covering him.

I’m caught, I know it before he even says anything. The hairs on the back of my neck stand up on end, warning me that someone is watching me. I turn my guilty gaze to his face and the cheeky smirk there makes me blush deeper than usual. “I can change it’s size if you’re wondering about it. Of course, we are the only two left in the room, you could always….” He trails off but his meaning is very clear.

“Not happening Zane, she’s a virgin for a start. Secondly, she’s taken Remember?”

“Dale!” I snap, trying to hide my face in the blanket on the bed. “You’re not supposed to go around telling people about my sex life! Besides, I thought we already sorted this out, he’s a friend, nothing more.”

“What? He knows you’re with us, but he keeps propositioning you anyway. All I want to do is punch his lights out.” Dale glares at Zane from the doorway.

“Really nephew? That’s how you’re going to talk about me?”

“Nephew? Shit, don’t tell me he is another one of your grandparent’s kids.”

“Yup second eldest, it goes Dale Sr, me, then Tyler.” Zane winks at me.

“Are there any other family members I should know about?” I ask turning my annoyed gaze on Dale. I’m not really annoyed at him, I’m more annoyed at myself and the strong reaction I keep having when I’m around Zane. Without waiting for an answer or looking at the guys, I go over to the bathroom and quickly shower and get dressed. My mind drifts back to the note I got a few days ago, I’m pretty sure the note was from my father, but I can’t be one-hundred percent sure about that.

As I emerge from the bathroom, I’m greeted with the sight of West and Drew shirtless, lounging around on my bed. Both Zane and Dale gone from the room. “Shifts of two at all times.” Drew winks as he folds his hands behind his head. The sight of Drew and West lying on my bed, looking so damn hot is enough to make my brain misfire.

I hiccup and a flash of light illuminates the room like a lightning strike. A second hiccup comes and again I light up the room.

“What’s with the pyro technics?” Nicholas asks as he just walks into my room uninvited.

“I didn’t mean-” I hiccup again. “to do it, it’s the damn-” Again, I hiccup. “hiccups.” I growl as I do it again.
