It’s Monday afternoon before I get a chance to talk to Lucy again and my stomach is turning just waiting for her response. She’s the only person in my world who will hit me with the hard truth I know I need to hear. Well, to be fair, Ryan does as well, but something tells me he isn’t going to be as forward about the truth when it comes to this.

“So you fucked them? That’s good,” she says snapping a piece of celery into her mouth from the Bloody Mary she’s drinking. “I wish I could’ve been a fly on that wall. How’d the boys get along?”

“I fucked Ryan. Viktor watched me come like a hungry bear, then left. It’s like he was edging himself or some weird shit. I don’t know… the whole thing was a huge mistake.”

Her face drops with sarcasm. “The man sounds kinky as hell. You should definitely follow those breadcrumbs.”

I smile, thinking back to last night and the way Viktor growled in my ear, and the way Ryan stretched me wide. “What if I get to wherever the crumbs lead, and it’s crazy town?”

“Then you lean into it, babe. You’re not above it. You’ve been there before.”

I can’t help but laugh.

“And their cocks,” she presses, “were they huge?”

I wave her away and take a sip of my mimosa. “You’re ridiculous.”

“Ridiculous or horny? It’s been two months since I’ve had any dick. I’m withering as we speak.”

“Not to celibates like you, but to someone who enjoys sex… it’s eons.”

“Why? Was it a one-night thing? Are you ever going back to his class?”

I wonder for a second if she’s asking because she’s paid my tuition. She’s never been like that before and I’m sure she’s not now.

I nod. “Of course, I’m not stupid. I’m not going to let some guy ruin all that I’ve worked for. I just couldn’t go today. I didn’t know what to say to him. That, and I’m a little scared to be alone with him after last night. Now that the seal has been broken, I—”

She laughs. “You don’t trust yourself. Damn, it was that good?”

I nod, biting my lower lip. “It’s the dirty talk. And that deep voice. And the muscles.”

“And you have feelings for him now? The protector, I mean.”

“The protector? You make him sound like a superhero.”

She takes another sip of her drink. “You’re avoiding my question. How does Ryan feel about you having feelings for another guy? Did he think it was just sex?”

“I didn’t say I felt anything for him.
