arisol waited for the couple to get seated and comfortable before she spoke a word. It was done in order to give them a moment of grace. A tender exchange that would aid in her therapy. They seemed happier than when sheâd seen them last. âSmiles on everyoneâs faces I see. Thatâs a good sign. I take it things have been good lately,â Marisol said, as the couple entered her office and sat on the plush golden yellow sofa. She gave Jill a sly grin. It was obvious she had taken Marisolâs advice and even though she initially was reluctant, it appeared she had been more romantic with her husband.
âYes! There is plenty more romance for us. Thatâs for sure,â Jill said, glancing at her husband with a loving smile. David looked at her then extended his hand. Jill had been going the extra mile and making their home life somewhere he actually wanted to be. It seemed the sessions with Marisol was just what the doctor ordered. David had been in for a private session after her meeting with Jill. The affair Jill spoke of would have to be discussed at a later time. The plan was to flush out the affair during part four of the session called Revelations. Asking him now would only result in him feeling ambushed and his reply would be nothing more than a lie and a cover up.
âWeâve been good. Happy. Now that our focus is back on each other. We have been able to reconnect. I know Iâm happy,â David said. Jill gave what seemed like a loving nod at her husband then looked deeply into Marisolâs eyes. The gaze was hard to read. Marisol was perplexed. Jill wanted to talk about the affair. It was way too early.
âSo Davidâ¦Letâs start with you. How has touch improved your marriage?â she asked.
âTouch?â he said, his eyebrow raised. It was a strange way to describe the sexercise she had given them as homework.
âYes. That was what it was all about. Itâs not about sex. The exercise was to get you back to the fundamentals of bonding through touch. The power of looking at someone. Touching them. Smelling them. Seeing them naked and exposed. And the uninhibited forms of pleasure that follow,â she said. David displayed a boyish grin.
âWellâ¦What can I say. Jill is remarkable. It felt great to be able to just get close again. She had pulled away after our last child and I guessâ¦I resented it.â he said, swiftly checking to see if his words impacted Jill. She kept her face forward. The half-smile waning. She didnât pull back because of post-partum. It was an insult and Marisol caught the burn.
âOkay. Well since you brought it up we can move to that part of the session. You say Jill withdrew affection because she was a new mom. Is that the way your theory?â Marisol asked.
âWellâ¦Yes! Why else would she just stop making love to me. Certain things,â he said. Jill boiled internally. She wanted to yell her reasons.
