Chapter Six

Daniel and Katelyn began to see a lot of one another. He took her to the theater to see Fiddler on the Roof and Lion King. He found that she also enjoyed the opera. She was surprised because most men that she knew just had a love for sports, beer, and boobs. It was so refreshing to meet someone like Daniel, and Daniel felt the same about her.

She took him to her home in the Bronx to meet her family. Her father was a city bus driver, and her mother was a high school math teacher. Her parents were amazed at Daniel’s attitude and whispered to Katelyn, “Are you sure he got money because he doesn’t act like a rich boy.” As a matter of fact, Daniel seemed to fit right in. He joked and laughed with them like he had known them all his life. She took him on the subway and showed him New York on public transportation. She treated him to a hot dog and Sicilian pizza, and they spent the afternoon at the Bronx Zoo. Daniel chuckled and said, “One day, I will take you to Africa, and you will see what these animals are really like. I will show you how they run free across the savannah.” He didn’t condemn the caging of the animals because they would live out their lives away from poachers.

Jamilla became curious about this woman who seemed to have captured her son’s heart. She invited Katelyn to dinner after she arrived in New York to visit Daniel, who had his penthouse at the Trump Tower. He picked Katelyn up from her home. He was taking her to his mother’s house for dinner. Although his mother had servants, she was a great cook in her own rights. Katelyn was nervous about meeting his mother. “Suppose she doesn’t like me?”

Daniel laughed but saw the serious look on her face. “Don’t worry, just be yourself, and she will love you as I do.”

She shook her head. “I don’t know, wait a minute, you love me?”

Daniel Stopped the car, faced her, leaned over, and kissed her, “Yes, Katelyn, I have fallen in love with you. In love with your smile, the happiness I see in your eyes, your attitude on life itself, I love all the things that make Katelyn Hunt, Katelyn Hunt.”

Then she leaned over and kissed him. “Let’s go meet your mother.”

When they walked in the house, Jamilla was all smiles and graciously made Katelyn feel at home. She watched her son and then looked at Katelyn, and she knew. She gave Katelyn a hug and kissed her on the cheek then stood back and took a look at her. “Now, aren’t you a pretty little thing.”

“Hello, Mrs. Horwitz, I’m happy to meet you. Daniel has told me so much about you.”

She smiled looking at Daniel, “Oh, has he now. Please call me Jamilla. Come on in here.” She led them to the living room to sit. “Dinner will be ready soon, so tell me how you and Daniel met.
