Jayce, Sienna and Lana were in the bedroom with Elyce while Tariq tried to keep the party going in their absence.

“I don’t believe that muthafucka played me like that! I should have seen that shit coming. Just my damn luck when it comes to men. What the hell is wrong with me?”

“Really, Elyce!? I know you are not trying to make it seem as if there’s something wrong with you. Girl, you are beautiful, successful and smart.”

“Sienna is right,” Jayce added as she handed her a tissue. “And for the record, there’s a man here who is absolutely crazy about you and you know it. Yes, I know he messed up one time. But he wasn’t married and y’all weren’t in a monogamous relationship.”

“Are you serious right now, J? Xavier is an ass and I don’t think I can take deal with his lies.”

“Now that’s funny.”

“What’s funny about that Lana?”

“You can’t deal with his lies, but do you recall that both of y’all were untruthful with each other in the beginning? Now, you won’t say it but let’s not forget that you told Lana you slept with your ex when you and Xavier first started seeing each other. What about that?”

“I needed some dick; our relationship was too new and he didn’t know so whatever.”

“But if he had, then what?”

“Shit, Lana, I don’t damn know.”

“Stop being an ass and talk to him like we’ve all been saying! Just talk to him, E! Please.” Elyce sat on the edge of the bed still in disbelief and not really wanting to hear what her friends were saying.

“Elyce, I don’t say anything to you because Niko says it’s not our business. But every time they are around each other, he’s always asking about you. And if I’m around, he’s begging me to talk to you.”

“I really don’t want to hear this right now Sienna. You do realize I just found out the man I decided to take a chance with, introduced to my parents—even though we were just there as friends—is married.”

“So, fucking what! Shit happens!” Jayce said with an exasperated sound in her voice. “Now pick up the damn pieces and move the fuck on! This is supposed to be a party. My man is out there trying to entertain a room full of folks and I need to get back to that.”

“Speaking of your man, I need to talk to both of y’all.”

“Really Lana, are you still going to be mad about me dating Tariq?”

“Well, after our talk maybe dating won’t be an option.”

“Wow! Really, bitch? What the hell does that mean?”

“No, Lana,” Elyce interjected. “This is supposed to be a happy time for Tariq and Jayce; we’ve had enough damn drama for one night. Let it go—at least for tonight.”

“Hey Tariq, sorry it took us so long to get back babe.”

“Is Elyce ok?”

“She’ll be fine. Where did everybody go?” Jayce scanned the room and saw Niko escorting the few lingering folks on out the door.
