I hadn’t heard from E, and he hadn’t heard from me. My only concern was going to school and passing my classes. Lately, I had been tired all the time. School and working nights had finally caught up to me and was kicking my butt. As a result, I was barely able to stay awake in class.

Even my teachers noticed the change in me. Things had gotten so bad that I had a tape recorder capturing the lectures. I would play it back when I did my homework, so I wouldn’t fail. Thankfully, my teachers understood that I worked nights. They didn’t know what I did because I lied and said I worked at a grocery store. Ain’t no way I was going to admit that I was a stripper who helped my cousin train other strippers or taught pole dancing classes. The only way I would admit that shit was if I got caught red handed.

Luckily, my teachers were cool. They had all been understanding, offering make up assignments as well as extra credit, so there was no reason at all why I couldn’t pass my classes with good grades. A little more work was on my plate, but it was better than taking an L.

“Hi, Brie. It’s good to see you,” my doctor said with a smile. “You’ve missed your last two appointments. I was starting to think you found a new doctor.”

“No,” I replied. “I’ve been busy with work and school.” I let out a long yawn. “My apologies. I have been so tired lately. This schedule is kicking my butt.”

“I’m sure. Are you still working overnight?”

“Yes. I believe that’s why I’m so sleepy.”

“Well, I’m glad to finally see you.” She handed me a cup. “You know the drill. I have to collect urine before I can give you the shot. Also, you need to give me blood because you forgot to do those labs the last time.”

“Of course. I remember.”

“I’ll be back in about five minutes.”

I gave blood, which only took a minute. I forgot to do that when I came in last time for my physical. Retreating back to the exam room, I trotted into the adjacent bathroom and pissed in the cup. After sealing the plastic container with the lid, I put it in the metal box for the lab tech to collect my sample. My doctor always said it would be five minutes before she returned, but it was more like fifteen or twenty.

I had a few minutes to check myself out in the mirror. Once I fixed my hair and applied more lip gloss, I turned around, admiring my figure. My ass had gotten fatter, and my boobs were fuller. It wasn’t a lot, but noticeable. Bitches at the club were asking if I had any work done. Those nosey fuckin’ hoes were always in someone’s business. If they paid that much attention to those tired ass dance moves and sloppy fuckin’ stage moves, they’d be rich by now. That’s why I couldn’t wait to graduate and leave that whole world behind.
