I walked into my first college literature class with sense of excitement mixed with a little bit of terror. My class was huge, almost filling the large lecture hall. I felt lost in the sea of people, but excited for all college had to offer. I had had a difficult time in high school, being a larger girl and all. But it already seemed like people in college were not so small-minded about size and the boys definitely appreciated my curves. I quickly found a seat towards the back of the hall and pulled out my notebook and pen.

The old professor finally walked to the center of the room and introduced himself to the class and started in on a speech on the importance of great literature to societies through the ages. I took careful notes, but couldn’t help glancing around to get a feel for my classmates. I saw a couple already flirting over towards the side, and one guy seemed to be creating intricate doodles in his notebook instead of taking notes. As my eyes scanned the auditorium, they were drawn to the left side of the room. I noticed a boy a few seats down from me was furiously scribbling something in his notebook. I couldn’t tell if he was taking notes or trying to write the next great American novel, but he was clearly engrossed in whatever he was writing. Something about him intrigued me. It wasn’t just that he was handsome, although he clearly was incredibly sexy. His dark hair flopped into his face, but couldn’t stop me from noticing his sharp green eyes. He had a dark tan that made me unsure of his exact ethnicity, and he was beautiful in a haunting and masculine way.

The professor told us he was ending our first lecture ten minutes early and everyone quickly packed up their bags and hurried out of the lecture hall. I shoved my notebook into my bag and looked up to catch a final glimpse of my sexy mystery boy, but he was already gone. I sighed, but reminded myself that I would get another chance next week. And anyway, I had to hurry back to my dorm and get dolled up. There was going to be some great party tonight on frat row to welcome all the freshmen to campus, according to my roommate. She assured me there would be plenty of sexy frat boys to go around.

After an hour and a half of primping, my roommate and I were finally ready to head out. We were both scrubbed and polished, but the end result was very different. My roommate was a tiny thing, all skinny limbs and long, straight blonde hair. She was wearing a tight blue, sequined mini dress and sky-high heels. I was a bit curvier and had a long mass of wavy brown hair that fell past my shoulders.
