Chapter 8

"Tonight?" I asked, shocked.

"Yes," she said, laughing. "I knew you'd do this. I told you three times over the last two weeks, yet you're surprised anyway."

"How are you getting there?"

"Sandy is driving her truck."

"She's bringing you home too?"

"Yeah. We said we'd be each other's dates. She broke up with Rob."

"When?" I asked. "What time should I expect you home?"

"Don't stay awake, Baby. I have no way of knowing right now. It might be a dud. It might be a lot of fun."

"Where is it being held?"

"They tried to book someplace nice, like the Howard Johnsons, but those people wanted too much money. The hardware chain owns a warehouse out on Highway Three, just before the Hoodsport turn-of, so we're having it there. We can play the music loud and drink and no one will bother us."

She lit the bathroom light. A little black dress hung on the towel rack.

"That's what you're wearing?" I asked, a little surprised.

"Yes."

"Pretty sexy for a work sponsored Christmas party."

"I love it when you're jealous," she giggled. "Relax. Sandy's wearing something similar. We want to be the cutest girls there. Most of the women that work for this company are frumpy. We'll get all the attention."

She started to brush her teeth.

"You'll have Old Man Riley all over you. Both of you."

She spat frothy paste.

"We sure will," she chuckled. "Sandy and I have been toying with the man. We used to tell him to keep his creepy comments to himself but I told Sandy we should turn it around on him. Now we flirt and have fun with it. It's double fun for me because I know the truth and Sandy doesn't. I toy with them both. It's harmless fun and makes a boring day go by faster."

She opened her robe and I saw the black lace bra and panties she'd chosen: hint of nipples, hint of landing strip. The see-through mesh made everything sexier.

"I thought you were going to shower," I said.

"I already did. Before you got home."

She shrugged her robe off and hung it on the hook by the door. She knew my eyes devoured every inch of her. A coy smile played with her lips. She moved slowly and gracefully, allowing me to drink her in. It wasn't a date, but it felt like I was watching her get ready for a date. Riley would love her dress. Every man there would love her dress. She adjusted a bra strap, lifting her heavy melon, and then plucked the small dress from the hanger. She stepped in, slipped her arms down the long sleeves, and turned her back to me.

"Do me?" she asked.

Riley was right: she was a minx.

"Pardon?"

"Pull my zipper up for me please?"

I pinched the bottom and smoothly drew the tab up her back.

"Are you losing weight?" I asked.

"Yes," she said. "Thank you for noticing. I started watching what I eat several weeks ago, since I'm on camera now. I watched a few of our older episodes and thought I looked fat too many times.
