Chapter Ten

Cory leaned his head against the door and closed his eyes. “This sucks.”Sara sat with the sheet tucked around her breasts. “Where have you two been? We went looking for you.” She scooted to the edge of the mattress. “You’ll never guess what happened.” She reached behind her and held Jake’s hand.

“We can guess,” Meg said. Cory heard the disappointment in her voice. He felt the same way. “Do you have your key to our room? I seem to have misplaced mine.”

Sara slid off the bed with the sheet wrapped around her body. “You can’t leave. I need to tell you what happened.”

Cory crossed the room and sat in the chair. His balls ached and his cock was still painfully aroused.

“Jake asked me to marry him.”

“I’m shocked.” Meg put her hand over her heart and laughed.

“Tonight.”

Meg’s eyes widened. “Okay, now that is a surprise.”

Sara pulled her to the bed and sat on the edge. Cory smiled because Meg hesitantly sat next to her.

“Sorry, Jake.”

He shrugged. “Hey, last time I interrupted you and Cory at foreplay.” His grin turned lecherous. “We’ve been around the world. Twice.”

Meg’s eyes rolled. “No details are necessary. That I’m sitting on this bed knowing you’re naked under the covers is enough, thank you.”

“Listen to me.” Sara put her hand on Meg’s leg to draw her attention. “Jake and I talked about how much our little mistake has cost. Because of this resort, and the airfare, well, he wanted to get engaged this summer, but now we won’t have the money. You know my parents aren’t going to help with my wedding. When I moved in with Jake, I made that choice.”

Guilt niggled at Cory. He’d convinced Jake to come to Jamaica. He’d been more concerned with his own needs than that of his brother. “Hey, I can help with the wedding costs. This is partially my fault.”

“And I’ll help,” Meg said.

Sara shook her head. “No, you don’t understand. We’re getting married here, at Rock House. They have the service available. We spent the wedding fund, might as well get married. And besides, we’re in paradise.”

Cory laughed. “Patty is going to have your ass in a sling.”

Jake sat up. “I hadn’t thought about that.”

“Don’t think. It’s decided and you aren’t changing your mind.” Sara gave Jake a slug then turned to Cory. “Close your eyes so I can get my robe on.” She smiled at Meg and squealed. “Can you believe it? It’s my wedding day.”

Cory closed his eyes and sighed. Great. He knew Meg and if she had too long to think about what they’d almost done, she’d change her mind. Buried feelings didn’t have to be acknowledged.

“We need to shop. The wedding is scheduled for six. Then we’ll have dinner and drinks here at the restaurant.”

“Sounds good to me.” Meg turned to Cory. “Do you guys want to come?”

He gave a snort. She didn’t need to ask. Yes, he wanted to come, but he didn’t want to shop. “We’ll hang out here.” Why was the timing always off for them? Outside interferences seemed to undo any progress they made.
