My eyes fluttered beneath my eyelids, as bright patches of light started to pry their way between my lids.

A million pinpricks darted across my skin, and the hairs on my arms stood on edge.

Someone was watching me.

Scratch that, a lot of someones.

I could feel their attention plastered to my skin, even before the soft murmuring started.

She made it inside.

See, I told you she wasn't useless. She's a BelleRose. She knows what she's doing.

My eyes popped open, after the slow realization of other voices. It was strange hearing them. They weren't like physical voices, more like echoes inside my head.

I found myself in the middle of a grand foyer, lying beneath a crystal chandelier that emanated light rays in the form of rainbows that washed over everything, and left a colorful tint behind.

Around me was a group of women, or at least that was the feeling I got.

They were in the shape of women if I was being technical. They were more like shimmering apparitions, made up of glittering blue energy. They looked like they were about as tall as me, only their bodies shined with power that I couldn't even imagine.

Their hair glowed too and constantly swayed from one way to the next like they were underwater.

They didn't have any distinct features, either. Yet, they felt familiar and warm.

There were three in total, all with their attention set on me.

Don't be scared, Sky. It's me.

One cocked their head to the side, and I knew the disembodied voice came from her.

All at once a warm, and soothing feeling crept across me. Tears immediately flooded my eyes and I knew it was my mother.

"Mom? What is this place? What are we doing here?" I glanced around anxiously at the room we were in. The foyer led to a grand staircase and a second floor. Not to mention the multiple rooms that branched off from the single corridor alone.

It was huge, easily as big as the mansions that lined the Mississippi River in the city, like the one that Beyonce' and Jay Z bought.

Probably bigger.

There was no way we were still in the small, compact tomb.

This is the BelleRose family crypt. She explained softly. Where all of the supernatural souls in our family go to rest when they die.

Time froze, and I swore the sound of a skipping record played in the background.

"Wait, what?" I glanced down at my body and patted it down frantically.

I was still the same old me. No shimmering stars graced my skin, and no strange energy erupted from me.

You're not dead, honey. Her voice echoed, even though she didn't even have a mouth to move. But I am.

The words stung my eyes and stole the breath from my lungs.

"What? No." I sat up straighter and glanced at the other two women that stood on either side of her as she delivered the life-shattering news.

Sure she'd pushed me over the edge time and time again, and made me feel like shit. But she was my mom.

I didn't want her to fucking die.
