Chapter 4

The morning after the party just before five thirty, Cara opened the door to find a box sitting outside, wrapped in bright red paper. After unwrapping the box Cara pulled off the lid to find laying on top of some red tissue paper, a piece of writing paper folded in half. Seeing as it was too dark to read the note, Cara put it in her pocket. Lifting the tissue paper Cara dropped the box when she saw what it contained. As she did the contents fell out, a dead frog. By the state of it the frog had been dead for quite some time. All that was left was skin and bones.

“Hi Cara, hope you haven’t been waiting too long?”

Cara looked up with a start to see Morgan walking towards her.

“Morgan, could you do me a favour?” Cara asked. k·1·2

“Depends what it is,” Morgan replied, smiling down at her.

“Could you get rid of that?” Cara pointed to the box on the ground. Looking to where Cara pointed, Morgan shook his head in disgust and muttered something under his breath. Bending down he scooped the mummified frog back into the box and replaced the lid.

“Probably some kids. They just love to play sick jokes, disgusting,” Morgan said, as he threw the box in the bin, pulling a face which Cara couldn’t help but laugh at.

“Thanks.”Cara smiled up at Morgan, glad that she had decided to put his jacket on since it was still cold at this early hour.

“It suits you,” Morgan said, as he fixed up the collar, his hand lingering a moment before he slid his hand down her arm and took hold of her hand. Turning on the torch Morgan led the way to the beach.

“Morgan, it’s beautiful,”Cara said, as she took in the sight of the sunrise.

“Very,”Morgan agreed as he turned off the torch. Standing behind Cara, Morgan rested his hands on her shoulders, his chin just brushing the top of her head. Even though Morgan took in the view of the sunrise his thoughts lay elsewhere.

After walking around the beach and sitting down for awhile talking about different things, Cara forgot all about the frog and note.

“Hey! I’m starving, what about you?” Morgan asked all of a sudden, as his stomach rumbled. Pulling Cara to her feet, Morgan looked at his watch and smiled.

“It should be open now.”

“What should be open?”Cara asked laughing as Morgan pulled her along.

“Roger’s Restaurant, eat in or take away,”Morgan explained.

Suddenly, without warning Morgan pulled Cara into the trees and kissed her lightly on the lips.

“God you’re beautiful,” Morgan mumbled, as he searched Cara’s eyes. Wrapping his arms around her Morgan pulled Cara towards him, his lips descending upon hers in a lingering kiss. Sighing Morgan raised his head.

“I’ve wanting to do that since last night,”Morgan said, as he brushed some hair off Cara’s face. Cara smiled shyly, as Morgan lowered his face and kissed her again,

“I wish we didn’t have to work today,” Morgan said, as he started to follow an invisible path that only his eyes could see, Cara’s hand in his.
