Chapter 4

She awoke slowly as the sunlight peeked through the curtains and spilled across the floor. Anne had slept the whole night through – a first since Patrick’s betrayal. Disoriented, she sat up and wondered why she wasn’t in the guestroom. And then the memories of last night came rushing back like a tidal wave, crashing through to her conscious full force.

She’d slept with Jack. She’d submitted to Jack. And it had been – so wonderful.

The dip in the sheets beside her indicated that she hadn’t been alone last night. Jack had shared his bed with her, and this knowledge warmed her heart. She glanced at the alarm clock. 9:30 a.m. Damn. She wasn’t used to sleeping this late.

Her feet hit the floor and she looked down to discover she was wearing one of Jack’s t-shirts. What a night it had been. Her body ached and the sweet soreness between her thighs was a stanch reminder of all that had happened. He’d taken her several times, each time bringing her to a powerful quaking release better than any she’d ever experienced.
